Big Sky Custom Solar LLP is a family owned and run business based in Lewis and Clark County between York and Canyon Ferry Dam. The Bowers family has been a part of the Helena community since the 1800’s and we plan on being part of this great community far into the future. In the 1950’s our family pioneered propane energy in and around the Helena community. In that same pioneering tradition we are proud and excited to introduce our community to the new wave of renewable energy opportunities that can affordably and effectively reduce our dependence on fossil fuel energies, lock in energy costs into the far future and to reduce our carbon emissions (carbon footprints) on our environment for the well being of future generations. We are a Montana dealer for Florida based Solar Energy Initiatives Inc. and California based SolarRoofs Inc. distributors. We also use local resources for many of our custom design needs. Sun Eye 210
Big Sky Custom Solar uses the SunEye 210 to evaluate your location for "solar insolation," or how much potential solar energy is available. The Solmetric SunEyeTM Model 210 (patent pending) is a hand held electronic device that allows users to assess total potential solar energy given the shading of a particular site. Identifying the shading pattern early in the process reduces the expense of system and home design and improves the efficiency of the final system or house.
The Solmetric SunEyeTM is the most important tool we use, saving time and money and helping to design the highest performance systems. It is equally useful for PV, passive hot water, roof mount or ground mount systems. Its electronic compass and level makes the evaluation process more convenient and efficient.
Optimize new systems for maximum production. Analyze existing installations to solve problems of under production. Identify specific shade-causing obstructions such as trees or structures and know instantly how much additional energy would be produced if the obstruction were removed.
Woodbining
In addition to solar energy products and installation, we process firewood for renewable energy. The tool we use is the Woodbine PRO Firewood Processor from CRD Metalworks. It's their most powerful Woodbine bar-and-chain model, the Ultimate cuts logs up to 24-in. diameter and comes mounted on a tandem-axle trailer. At half the price of comparable processors, the PRO is their best selling model and offers unbeatable simplicity and ease of operation. With a 50 HP John Deere diesel, this machine's ready to process an amazing 4 ½ cords of wood per hour, minimizing our processing time.
